Gurugeeks carried out research on the modal solutions of acoustic waves in optical waveguides. This research proposed to give result-oriented analysis on how to deal with the limitation and inefficiency of delivery of high power in waveguides. This was achieved by reducing optical-acoustic interactions thereby avoiding reflection of optical power. Part of this research confirmed it would be beneficial to enhance optical-acoustic interactions, for the purpose of several applications, such as, Fiber Sensors: distributed measurement of temperature and strain sensors for monitoring fire/hazards, Intrusion Detection, Monitoring Railways with optical fiber etc.
